The Tata Longitudinal Study of Aging (TLSA) is a long-term, ongoing aging cohort study of residents of Bangalore. It is funded by Tata Trusts and conducted by the Centre for Brain Research (CBR), Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

The main goal of the study is to identify risk factors and protective factors associated with dementia and other aging-related brain disorders. The participants of the study (cognitively healthy individuals without dementia in the age group of 45+ years) are recruited from the urban Bangalore community for comprehensive assessments over a long period. This includes evaluation of clinical, neurocognitive, neuroimaging, lifestyle, anthropometric, biochemical, and genetic measures – at baseline and periodic follow-up.

Details are available at cbr-iisc.ac.in/research/projects/tlsa/

As a step towards continued engagement with the community, the CBR team plans to organise an informal gathering (virtual) with already enrolled and potential participants of TLSA. The team will provide an overview of the progress of the study, recent developments, and future plans. The gathering will also serve as a platform to collect participants’ feedback, views, and suggestions for improvement.

Those who are interested to know more about the study and may consider enrollment in the future are also welcome to attend the session.
