The Centre for Brain Research at the Indian Institute of Science seeks to recruit personnel for the following positions, who are keenly motivated to work with a geriatric group and in taking initiatives under a program grant entitled “Alzheimer’s Disease: Understanding mechanisms for early diagnosis and treatment” funded by the Tata Trusts.
Post No. 1: Physician
Essential Qualifications: MBBS with MD/ MD/DNB Medicine/ Geriatric Medicine/ Respiratory Medicine/ Community Medicine/ Family Medicine with excellent academic record and with minimum of 2 years’ experience in relevant areas.
Job Description: Conducting medical assessments of study participants, clinical examinations including complete physical and neurological examination, anthropometric assessment and overseeing investigations, coordinating research activities, and analyzing clinical and neuroimaging data. Should play an active role in the ongoing intervention studies.
Desirable: Should be proficient in English and Kannada. Familiar with other south Indian languages will be an added advantage. Good communication skills to coordinate with subjects, other teams, and collaborative institutes. An added qualification in cardiology would be desirable.
Post No. 2: Research Fellows
Essential Qualifications: M.B.B.S/ B.Tech / M.Sc Life science or allied science with minimum of 2 years research experience in relevant areas in R & D organizations/Government organizations/Private organizations.
Job Description: To coordinate research activities, conduct clinical and cognitive assessments, conduct community awareness programs, and establishing and maintaining good rapport with subjects for continued assessments.
Desirable: Proficiency in computer (MS Office) and must possess excellent organizational and management skills and an ability to develop working relationships with a wide range of people. Good communication skills to coordinate with subjects, other teams, and collaborative institutes. Should have good written skills and spoken languages in English/ Kannada/ Telugu / Tamil /Hindi etc.
Post No. 3: Radiologist
Key Responsibilities
- Timely reporting of structural and functional Brain MRI assessments
- Performing and reporting Ultrasound/Doppler assessments
- Working closely with researchers conducting large-scale, human research studies on brain aging and neurodegeneration
- Other duties as assigned from time to time by the Principal Investigators of the flagship research projects.
Qualification and Skills
Essential
- Qualified National/State Medical Council-registered Radiologist (MD/DNB/DMRD)
- Work full-time (10 am – 5 pm) at CBR; candidates are free to undertake clinical practice outside office hours.
Desirable
- 3 years’ experience that includes MRI, Ultrasound/Doppler; for exceptional candidates without experience, the requirement of 3 years’ experience could be waived.
- Prior research experience or keen interest in research
- Proficiency in using Office 365 (particularly, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), MRI workstations, and analysis software; an ability and interest to pick up and use emerging tools.
General Conditions:
1. All appointments are contractual. Candidates will be evaluated on a yearly basis prior to renewal.
