Job description
The Lead for Proteomics will provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership for the Biomarker Centre of Excellence (CoE). Therefore, this role requires a combination of scientific expertise, strategic foresight, team management, and collaborative engagement. Besides overseeing research projects and mentoring a multidisciplinary team, the Lead will ensure rigorous quality standards for biomarker research and serve as the primary liaison to internal and external partners in this endeavour. The Lead will report to the Director, CBR.


Key responsibilities
• Cooperate with the CBR leadership in formulating and implementing the CoE’s scientific vision, research strategy, and long-term roadmap

Qualifications
Essential
• PhD and notable postdoctoral experience in proteomics/ biomarker research, neuroscience, molecular biology, clinical chemistry, or a related field
• Proven track record of independent research excellence (as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and research grants) and leadership in biomarker or translational science
• Deep understanding of biomarker assay technologies, validation strategies, and data interpretation
• Significant experience managing and mentoring research teams, including scientists, technicians, and administrative staff
• Strong organisational, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster collaborations across disciplines and geographies


Desirable

The Facility Coordinator will ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the Biomarker Centre of Excellence (CoE). Reporting to the Director of CBR and working closely with Lead – Proteomics and Lead – Digital Biomarkers, this role combines administrative oversight, operational support, and coordination across research and technical teams.

 

Key responsibilities

• Oversee logistics for lab space allocation, sample reception, inventory, and equipment maintenance 

• Coordinate vendor interactions, servicing, and procurement of reagents/supplies

• Maintain detailed databases for equipment, freezer stock, consumables, and sample tracking; track and report facility usage metrics

• Prepare quotes, costings, and monitor expenditures related to projects and core facility operations

Job Description:

• Create and edit skilled graphic and digital media for print and online, including Web, social media, and print-materials for promotional and informational purposes.
• Responsibilities include the production and design of ads for various platforms, including, but not limited to print, online, audio and video. Also perform a variety of digital media duties including preparing promotional and digital material for advertising and informational purposes; operate computers, digital cameras, Web and graphic software, and other equipment and programs, related to digital and print media.
• Design and create materials that educate and inform CBR mission, programs and services. The Centre for Brain Research (CBR), IISc, Bangalore, is seeking a clinician for a TATA Trusts–funded project with a minimum qualification of MD/DNB who is motivated to work with a senior (geriatric) population. The Centre for Brain Research (CBR), IISc, Bangalore, is seeking a postgraduate in psychology who is motivated to work with a geriatric population for TLSA study. The role involves conducting cognitive assessments of participants, organising community awareness programs, and establishing and maintaining rapport with participants for continued follow-up assessments.

CBR conducts large-scale, community-based aging studies in rural and urban populations to decipher cognitive changes due to normal aging, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurodegenerative disorders. Overview

This position involves playing a key role in the design, analysis, and interpretation of clinical research studies and outcomes, ensuring the highest standards of statistical integrity and rigor. It requires a strong background in biostatistics and research methodology and a passion for improving healthcare outcomes.


Key responsibilities

  • Develop protocols including study design, sample size/power calculations, randomization, and statistical analysis plan for assigned studies
  • Create statistical analysis plans, including hypothesis testing and survival analysis, and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of statistical input into reports or decisions.
  • Perform statistical analyses and interpret results
  • Lead the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting on statistical research studies/sub-studies
  • Advise investigators on experimental design, statistical research approaches, and related requirements
  • Support the preparation of research grant proposals and reports
  • Carry out other job-related duties as assigned by PI/Co-PI/Director from time to time.


Qualification and Skills

Essential

  • PhD in Biostatistics, Statistics, or a related discipline
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in biostatistics or statistical analysis in R&D
  • Strong grasp of statistical theory and applications (including trial design and analysis)
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current and emerging trends in statistical analysis methodology
  • Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, SAS, Stata or Python
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and demonstrated independent research skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Desirable

  • Experience with adaptive trial designs, Bayesian methods, and machine learning algorithms
  • Experience with systematic reviews and meta-analyses
  • Experience with grant writing and research funding
