Dr. Srinivas R Kadaba

Biosketch
Srinivas R. Kadaba is Head of Data and AI Platform at the Centre for Brain Research since 2024. Over a 30-year career in research and development he has successfully designed and delivered foundational technology and product ideas with significant business and industry impact in the areas of both systems and algorithms for signal processing, communications, networking, cloud technologies, and ML/AI.
Prior to CBR, he held R&D positions at Lucent Technologies Bell Laboratories, Ericsson Silicon Valley, AI-focused startups in language translation and financial information, and Oracle. He was awarded the Bell Labs President’s Gold Award for system design underlying modern mobile data since 3G, and the Ericsson Key Contributor Award for work in Software Defined Networking.
He received a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 1996 from Purdue University, MSc (Engg) in Electrical Communication Engineering in 1991 from the Indian Institute of Science, and BTech in Electronics and Communications Engineering in 1989 from JNT University Hyderabad.
Projects
The team is organized into a Data Infrastructure Core and a Data Analysis Core, and focuses on three major areas: data infrastructure, data engineering, and data analysis and algorithms.
Data infrastructure is the cluster and software stack comprised of databases, object storage, and cloud-style scalable computing capability, based on best practices in the Data and AI industry. It will be a secure platform enabling effective data search and retrieval, federated data sharing, and algorithms for data processing and analysis with the objective of developing methods for prediction of risk of cognitive impairment.
Data engineering is the discipline of ingesting, organizing and structuring data into data sets. Our data engineers are engaged in this on a continuous basis to ensure data correctness, integrity, timeliness and security. Subsequently, the data sets are transformed and enriched to create valuable data sets for further data analysis.
Data analysis and algorithms utilize a diverse knowledge base in statistics, signal processing, dynamical systems, and ML/AI to comprehend and model CBR’s multimodal data set. CBR researchers design and implement canonical pipelines required for effective usage of both “structured” (tabular) and “unstructured” data (images, waveforms, free text etc).
