CBR Young Clinician Researchers Meeting, 19 January 2024

Established in 2014 through an exemplary endowment from the Pratiksha Trust and hosted by the Indian Institute of Science, the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) conducts cutting-edge transformative research on normal and pathological aging of the brain. With the mission of preserving cognitive functions during aging, the research and innovation activities of the Centre are focused on developing scientific methods for early diagnosis, prevention, postponement, evidence-based interventions, and effective management of neurodegenerative diseases affecting the elderly population.

Embedded in the stimulating research ecosystem of IISc, CBR spearheads interdisciplinary research spanning clinical studies, imaging, cognitive assessments, molecular neuroscience, genetics, omics, and computational methods including data science and machine learning techniques. In addition to a generous grant from the Pratiksha Trust, CBR receives research grants for specific projects from several granting agencies such as the Tata Trusts, SKAN Research Trust, DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance, Alzheimer’s Association, Software AG, and the Government of India’s Departments.

Highlights of various research initiatives can be accessed here.

The profiles of CBR’s faculty members are available here.

CBR is looking for exceptionally motivated and bright clinician researchers with a keen interest in innovative, interdisciplinary, and mission-oriented research on brain aging and neurodegeneration for faculty and postdoctoral positions in its thrust areas: epidemiology/ public health, clinical neuroscience, neuropsychiatry, neuropsychology, behavioural neurology, neuroimaging, geriatric medicine, community medicine, and similar areas.

CBR invites applications from aspiring/young clinician researchers who hold at least one of the desired qualifications (MD/MS/DNB/MPH/PhD/equivalent) or are nearing course completion. Applications from Indian citizens as well as others (with or without the Overseas Citizens of India [OCI] status) are accepted.
