1. Regulatory and Tax Status
The Centre for Brain Research (CBR) was formed under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 vide registration certificate number 126/2014-15 dated 12th August 2014.
2. Recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SlRO)
CBR has been recognised as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under the Scheme on Recognition of Scientific and Industrial Research Organisations (SIROs), 1988. The recognition is duly renewed Vide No. 14/705/2016-TU-V dated 23rd March 2022 for the period upto 31st March 2025.
3. Registration under Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR)
CBR has been registered with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research(DSIR) and the registration is valid upto 31st March 2025. Certificate of Registration
4. Exemptions/Approvals under Income Tax Act, 1961
CBR has been granted an exemption under section 12A of the Income Tax Act, 1961, vide letter number CIT(E)BLR/12A/M-281/AABTC7082K/ITO(E)-1/2015-16 dated 22nd February 2016.
CBR has also been granted approval under section 35 (1) (ii) of Income Tax Act 1961 for its scientific research activities as per Gazette notification no 83/2018 dated 26th November 2018.
5. Status under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010
CBR is registered under The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, vide number 094421820.
